Founded over half a century ago, the CONFEDERATION FRANCAISE DES METIERS D'ART (CFMA) seeks to support and promote leading arts and crafts players within their trade associations.
Through its range of services and networks, the CFMA seeks to defend the interests of art and craft enterprises without replacing their specific missions and affiliations with their members.
The CFMA is a trade organisation that mainly aims to promote art and craft sectors generally. It is headed by CEO Alain GRANGÉ CABANE who is also president of the Fédération des Entreprises de la Beauté. He is supported by Mrs Mick FOURISCOT, Serge NICOLE,Alain VOGEL SINGER, Anne MIDAVAINE and Danyèle HUGON, as vice president, Matthieu ROSY general secretary, treasurer Robert GUIOT and Etienne COCHET,Chairman of "Paris, Capitale de la Création".
Minister François DOUBIN and president Jacques MOUCLIER, widely acknowledged for their commitment to the promotion of arts and crafts in France, are also members of CFMA’s Bureau.
The prevailing strength and appeal of arts and crafts lie in the contribution they make to culture and the economy. To quote Rodin: "an art form that has life does not reproduce the past. It perpetuates it".
Arts and crafts, based on priceless expertise and know-how, bring happiness to the lives of their practitioners and to the general public who buy their work.
Arts and crafts have successfully adapted to the evolving needs and aspirations of today’s consumers who seek to improve the quality of their lives. The expansion of arts and crafts is tangible proof of this successful adaptation.
Arts and crafts are a buoyant economic sector:
Over 100 billion euros in annual pre-tax sales
of which 35% in exports
30,000 enterprises made up of self-employed artists, small businesses and SMEs:
a total of 120.000 employees
CFMA’s underlying mission is to promote art and craft enterprises that differ in size, market coverage and headcounts but that share a set of common objectives: the pursuit of aestheticism, originality and creativity, the upholding of traditions and improving the quality of life.
As VOLTAIRE wrote in "Le Mondain" in 1736:
"the superfluous is very necessary because it has joined both hemispheres".
